about

Given that Halloween is just a few days away now, here’s a treat (no tricks. I promise) for all you barbershop quartet enthusiasts out there. Listen in as the Dapper Dans share some of the spookier tunes from their songbook.

lyrics

Over the course of this over-8-minute-long recording, listeners will hear the Cadaver Dans perform:

“Wah Hoo!,” a song initially made popular by Riders in the Sky, the American Western music & comedy group. Disney fans probably know the Riders best for their work on the “Toy Story 2” soundtrack (They performed the “Woody’s Round-Up” theme song).

“Cruella de Vil” from Disney’s “101 Dalmatians.” Back in 1959, Mel Leven reportedly wrote this song just 45 minutes before he was to meet with Walt. Who was looking for a silly-but-sinister number that would sum up this animated feature’s fur-crazed villain

“Oogie Boogie’s Song” from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Danny Elfman -- who wrote 10 songs from this stop motion seasonal favorite -- was the lead singer-songwriter for Oingo Boingo

“Happy Trails” from the “Roy Rogers” radio & TV show. This song -- which was written by Roy’s wife & frequent co-star Dale Evans -- was always played over the end credits of that program. Van Halen fans may remember this tune as the song that was sung at the end of every live performance back when David Lee Roth was still with the band.

Fun fact: Though the Cadaver Dans typically only do a 13-minute-long set while performing at WDW’s Magic Kingdom, it takes more than twice that time for these four singers to be made up as undead cowboys.
